Later residing in Wake Forest, NC.  Rev.  Houston's journey led him to correctional chaplaincy, reaching lives in what he considers the largest mission field in America - the prison system.  Formerly employed by the State of North Carolina Department of Juvenile Justice as a Chaplain and Department Head of Religious Services at C.A. Dillon Youth Development Center, Rev. Houston moved on to occupy a position as Chaplain with the Federal Bureau of Prisons serving close to 4,500 men.  After Serving as chaplain behind prison walls, teaching, mentoring, and supervising religious operations, he served in Washington, DC as an auditor/examiner of religious programing nationwide.  Currently the National Faith-Based Reentry Coordinator for the Bureau of Prisons, Pastor Houston leads the effort in connecting the dots for reentry resources, championing mentor relationships and developing practical programming designed to help men and women reconcile with God, family and community. 

 

Prior to corrections Rev. Houston was a member of the pastoral staff at Duke University Medical center and Assistant Pastor/Music Director at Agape Word Fellowship in Raleigh, NC. He has a dual ordination under Bishop T.D. Jakes in 2010 (Potter's House International Pastoral Alliance) and Dr. Jerry Williams in 2002 (International Covenant Connection).  Pastor Desmond Shepherd of Operational Good News International (Tulsa, OK) serves as personal mentor and is responsible for exposing him to international minisitry with missions to India.  Bishop T. D. Jakes is noted as a spiritual father and ministry covering for Pastor Houston.  

 

The Founders of Bridge of Life Ministries and Bridge of Life Community Fellowship, Pastor Houston and his wife Jacqueline seek to reach reconcile and restore lives with the message of unconditional love, acceptance and forgiveness.  BOLCF church is located in Wake Forest, NC where Rev. Houston served as Senior Pastor for it's first seven years and currently remains founder and overseer, training the next generation of minsters and lay leaders.

Pastor Christopher M. Houston, M.Div.

Christopher Houston is a native of Wingate, NC located 30 minutes outside of Charlotte.  Growing up in the small town he was involved in football, basketball, track and bodybuilding.  His love of athletics led him to accept a football scholarship to Western Carolina University in 1991.  There Pastor Houston majored in Music Industry and completed his B.A.  in music during the summer of 1996.  Wanting to further cultivate himself, not only educationally but spiritually as well, he decided to attent seminary at Oral Roberts University in Tulsa, OK in 1997.  There he received his Master of Divinity Degree.  It was also in Tulsa where Pastor Houston met and married his wife Jacqueline.  In their years of marriage they have four children:  Candyce, Christopher, Cyrani & Andrew (nephew).

Pastor Houston's extensive exposure to the difficulties associated with grief, death & dying, has afforded him an understanding that has brought hope and peace to many. On both the personal and professional levels he has strategically used principles from God's Word to navigate the way to peace.  His workshops can be tailored to educate, prepare families, or assist those traumatized by life's most indescriminate enemy.

As a leader in Prison Ministry to youth & Adults for over 19 years, Pastor Houston has a heart for those who fight the good fight from behind bars.  Recognizing the impact that crime and incarceration have

had on the family, the church, & society at large, he aims to "Bridge The Gap" by teaching the overcoming power of unconditional Love, Acceptance, & Forgiveness. The Philemon Project focuses on equiping men who will one day return home with the necessary tools to be successful, as well as training those who will receive them (faith community) how to prepare for, welcome, and assist them in their return.

Over the last 20 plus years Pastor Houston has written songs that inspire and edify.  As a pianist & former producer, he has a heart for ensuring musicians do not fall through the cracks of the everyday church culture, but are ministered to on a level that enriches the soul and protects the annointing. He remains available for colaborations and consultation.
